Unique Kitchens & Baths was established in 2017 by NKBA Kitchen Designer Tanya Smith-Shiflett and her husband David Shiflett, a Master Carpenter and custom cabinet maker. What began as a shared passion for thoughtful design and true craftsmanship has grown into a nationally recognized kitchen and bath design studio and cabinetry manufacturer.
Our in-house team of designers works closely with homeowners, interior designers, architects, and builders to bring each client’s vision to life with intention and precision. Every cabinet we produce is handcrafted in the USA, built with exceptional attention to detail and quality that sets us apart in the industry. From design approval to delivery in just 12 weeks, along with complimentary blanket-wrapped delivery nationwide, our process makes fully custom cabinetry accessible no matter where you are located.

FOUNDER & NKBA LEAD KITCHEN DESIGNER
Tanya Smith-Shiflett
Tanya has always believed that the kitchen is, in fact, the heart of the home. She has always been passionate about balancing function and beauty in the rooms we use most. While working full-time in medical sales, she began helping her husband’s building company part-time with kitchen layouts. Her innate ability to create beautiful and functional kitchens promoted her to become the founder of Unique Kitchens & Baths. Since 2005, Tanya has been in the kitchen design community, expanding her skills and honing her expertise. Today, she works closely with her in-house team of designers at UKB to create timeless spaces.
CFO & MASTER CABINET MAKER
David Shiflett
David, a Maryland native, has been a certified builder since 2000. As a master carpenter with a lifetime of experience, he is an expert in millwork and building cabinetry. When Tanya decided to open her own kitchen and bath design studio, David turned his focus to crafting custom cabinetry for her clients. Now as CFO, he handles all cost in creating our beautiful cabinetry and ensures that process continues to run smoothly and oversees each piece as it is completed and before it is delivered to you.
